Clip naming with FS100

0

I attended the wonderful presentation on the FS100 in Orlando – great job!
It seems there is a limitation on file naming with the FS100 – you cannot create a three-letter prefix before the shot number. Jesse said shot info (date, time, etc) would be embedded in the metadata, but I wonder if there is a solution – to actually create a prefix to help organize clips. If you are working in Premiere CS5, and need to import a stock shot from a past shoot, what happens when there are identical clip numbers – wouldn’t that create an issue?

Thanks!

Hey Diane,

thanks for coming to the show!   I spoke to sony about this issue today, there is actually no unique identifier on the clip names (a la serial number) and there is no user control at the time the clips are created.

proper management in Premiere CS5 will therefore create some intervention at the time of ingest to rename clips or copy and paste with new names that will be most effective for your workflow.
